Organ-On-Chip

Organ-on-Chip (OOC) studies are being hailed as the key to faster, more accurate drug development and precision medicine.

Body-On-Chip

CN Bio was a participant in the grant awarded to MIT by DARPA (United States Defence Advanced Research Projects agency) for a 10-organ “Human Body-on-a-Chip”. In March 2018, Nature Scientific Reports published the final milestone of this program which successfully connected engineered tissues from 10 organs, accurately replicating human organ interactions for weeks at a time and allowing researchers to measure the effects of drugs on different parts of the body.

In February 2018, Researchers at Imperial College London published an article in Nature Communicationsdemonstrating how CN-Bio’s MPS technology enabled the study of viral infections, in this case Hepatitis B infection, in a liver-on-a-chip system.

CN Bio’s PhysioMimix™ Organ-on-Chip technology has also featured in BioCentury, The Economist, TechCrunch, the BBC and numerous specialist scientific and technology publications.

Single and Multi-Organ Systems

CN-Bio’s PhysioMimix™ OOC allows for single-organ, two-organ (2-OC) or multi-organ experiments to be performed dependant on the consumable plate selected. Individual cell culture wells can be perfused or linked together using microfluidics to create more complex co-culture systems.

Single-organ models allow detailed investigative studies of individual organ function and modelling of specific disease states.

Multi-organ models give detailed information on organ-organ crosstalk, pharmacokinetics and biodistribution. These allow testing of drug effects on the targeted organ as well as off-target effects on other organs.
