Organ-on-a-chip models are emerging in vitro methods with the potential to reduce animal use in toxicity testing and preclinical disease models.
Advanced multi-organ modes allow interactions between two organs to be modeled and have the potential to assess systemic responses. This study demonstrates the importance of multi-organ models for organ-to-organ crosstalk and toxicity assessment.
