Data collection using the PhysioMimix® platform
Sample media throughout your study and recover intact microtissues at the end, then analyze both on the instruments already in your lab.

Every drug discovery programme depends on the quality of the data behind it
During your experiments using the PhysioMimix® Core, you can sample media using a pipette and analyze it on instruments already in your laboratory. The Multi-chip plate gives access to circulating media throughout a study and to intact microtissues at the end of it, so one experiment can return a broad set of data from the same organ-on-a-chip.
Watch the short animation to see the types of data that can be collected from your organ-on-a-chip experiments
During your study, media samples taken at intervals across the culture period support:
- Assessment of health and functional markers, including albumin, urea, LDH, ALT, and AST
- Inflammation markers such as IL-6 and other cytokines
- Quantification of the parent compound and its metabolites by LC-MS, for drug metabolism and clearance analysis
At the end of your study, the entirety of the media volume can be collected and the microtissue or cells can be recovered, supporting:
- Flow cytometry on dissociated cells
- Genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and epigenomics
- Metabolomics and lipidomics
- Microscopy and histology, including immunofluorescence staining
Every one of these endpoints runs on standard laboratory equipment, and the same sampling routine applies across all the organ-on-a-chip models available on the platform.
Richer datasets from a single experiment
Combining secreted markers with tissue-level readouts links a functional change to the pathway behind it. The resulting concentration data can also feed in silico tools, which derive ADME parameters for physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling and in vitro–in vivo extrapolation (IVIVE) to support human prediction.
Extract the widest range of human translatable endpoints – using standard laboratory equipment
The timeline below shows how sampling fits into a 28-day study, starting with priming the plate and seeding cells, and finishing with collection of both media and tissue. Dosing is up to you: a single acute dose, repeat dosing, or an extended washout. Because the Multi-chip plate uses an open-well design, you can take media samples and dose the model as often as your study needs without disturbing it, and fluidic flow maintains microtissue viability and function for up to four weeks. That sampling flexibility is why PhysioMimix® Core returned the widest range of endpoints of the eight platforms in the FDA-CDER Cross-Platform Evaluation of Liver MPS.

Applications include:

Safety & Toxicology
Generate mechanistic insight, investigate toxicity pathways and build evidence that supports confident progression decisions.

Disease Modelling
Recreate relevant tissue environments to investigate disease mechanisms and evaluate therapeutic responses with greater physiological relevance.

ADME & Bioavailability
Study absorption, metabolism and first-pass effects in connected human organ systems to better understand how drug candidates behave in the body.

Multi-Organ Studies
Connect tissues through circulating flow to investigate interactions that cannot be observed using isolated models alone.
Insight That Builds Confidence
Drug development is full of critical decisions, such as:
- Which candidate should progress?
- Which risk signals matter?
- How much confidence do you have in the evidence available today?
By providing earlier insight into human biology, PhysioMimix® helps teams reduce uncertainty, investigate mechanisms more clearly, and move forward with greater confidence.
